Winged Wonders: A Spectacular Birdwatching Boat Tour to Discover the Hidden Treasures of the Aquatic World
Lake Skadar, the birdwatching paradise: Discover over 280 bird species and their migratory routes on this boat tour.
Lake Skadar, a sanctuary for avian life, hosts more than half of Europe’s bird species and acts as an essential stopover for migratory water birds during the winter season. As an internationally recognized bird shelter, Lake Skadar is a haven for bird enthusiasts and ornithologists alike.
Two bird reserves on the lake are recognized as International Birding Areas, making it a top destination for birdwatchers. Depending on the time of year, visitors can encounter a range of birds, including nesting, resident, wintering, migratory, and vagrant species.
As the seasons change, different bird species can be spotted, such as black cormorants, white herons, yellow squacco herons, grey herons, little grebes, ferruginous ducks, crusted grebes, and kingfishers. Rare species build their nests on willows or water lily leaves, providing a breathtaking sight for all who join this birdwatching boat tour.
Discover the Majestic Dalmatian Pelican on this Boat Tour of Pančevo oko Ornithological Reservoir.
The Dalmatian pelican, an impressive and graceful bird, is the star of the show on this birdwatching boat tour. Pančevo oko, an ornithological reservoir, provides the perfect nesting ground for these magnificent birds on the floating moss called arbunos.
The Dalmatian pelican can grow between 170 and 190 cm long, with a wingspan of over 3 meters. They weigh between 11 and 15 kg and have long, curly feathers on their heads, with a few black feathers at the end of their wings. They announce their presence with hissing and rattling and can eat fish up to 50 cm long.
These elegant birds fly with a posture similar to that of herons, making them a sight to behold while in flight. They only migrate short distances, and nesting is performed in large colonies once a year, with 2 to 3 white eggs laid.
Join this birdwatching boat tour to witness the beauty and grandeur of the Dalmatian pelican in its natural habitat, a truly unforgettable experience for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
